“…We love our house. How many ways can Ken and I say it, express it, thank you for it … just came across Ken & my individual “want” lists that we gave to you before you even started the design phase. What is so amazing in reading them over is that it looks like we created the list after the house had been completed! How many architects can say they’ve achieved that? ... we look at our house from down below (from the marsh) , our house looks like it’s been on that property forever. It totally fits! ... And especially as you approach the house and look up to the red sliding doors and into the fire blazing in the fireplace, it is so beautiful, and you want to be inside! So, thank you for this dream come true that will last for the rest of our lives…” - Mary
This new residence artfully expresses the character and manner that ideally suits the owner’s lifestyle. The house is relatively small, but spacious within the horizontal and vertical shell. The house is basically an open plan, balanced by various intimate niches, including the daybed under the stair, the kitchen, and second floor hallway TV area.
The various ceiling heights help to support both openness and intimacy. The house is detail conscious and highly crafted. Two 2-story galleries on each side of the living area provide natural lighting and ventilation. At the upper levels of each gallery are opposing interior and exterior operable windows to allow ventilation to flow throughout the house
